A Day in the Life of Some Christmas Antlers

On December 26th, I flew with a flight attendant who loves to take pictures of his fellow employees at United. It's quite incredible, actually, how many he takes. BUT, this time, he took enough of me to actually create "A Day in the Life". This was my crew on my first airplane to Chicago, a Boeing 767, minus 1 "grinch" who didn't want his picture taken that early in the morning. (The antlers were still sleeping, too.)
This was at the end of that flight. If you look real close, you can see our latest first and business class seats that lie down flat. They're all pretty cool! Oh, and the reason I'm wearing antlers on the 26th? Simple. I forgot to bring them for the 25th!!
Time for lunch! We have an employee cafeteria downstairs, but both of us picked up Micky-dee's instead, and brought it down. We sat in and around here for 3 hours and 20 minutes.
I then snuck upstairs to greet my roommate, Ling, at the gate she was arriving at before her next flight. I put on my antlers and stood in the middle of the ORD airport, making a fool of myself. I did get a lot of smiles, and chuckles, tho'! One little boy came up to me and said, "You're too late! Christmas is over!" I apologized profusely and told him my predicament of forgetting to bring them the day before. He forgave me! ;o )
And on to our next airplane. This one is a Boeing 737, almost extinct in our airline now, but still flying for the Christmas holidays. We were headed to Boston.
The baggage man and the customer service agent, doing last minute checks before closing the door.
Now, these two kids were special, because they were the caretakers of the antlers while we were in the air (because they were too small for me and gave me a headache!). They felt VERY proud to have such a task.
And they shared very nicely together. And that is the end of the tale. . .because the antlers went to bed, along with their owner!

Little Blessings

This is the special friend who was able to visit on Christmas day. Wendy and I were in training together, then lived together for about 8 months until she was transfered back to ORD. She just happened to have a 17 hour layover in SFO, so we got together for a bit. Sorry about the hair, but it was the best picture I had!
After Christmas, I got a trip to Boston, and was right across the street from a Burlington Coat Factory store. This coat was a Christmas present from my sis and bro from that store! (Thanks, you two!)

Christmas in the Air!

I didn't realize the pun of that until I typed it, and it was too good to erase!! :o ) I spent Christmas in the airplane, actually a couple of them. I flew from San Diego to Denver to Tampa, FL, on Christmas eve, then left early this morning, Christmas day, to fly to Washington, DC, then back to SFO for this afternoon. Here's a couple pictures of my Christmas views.Off the balcony in San Diego. Double-click on the pictures. . .they're really cool!

And this was this morning in Tampa, before the sun came up. It was 80 degrees and HUMID!!!
Merry Christmas from me and my little tree!! We're both a little tired after our long day!

A Joyful Broken Heart

I admit, this post is more for me than for anyone else, but I need to share this burden. For those of you who don't know this, right after my first couple years of college, I worked at a group home for people with disabilities. It was such an amazing experience. When I left for Germany, however, due to the nature of the clients' right to privacy, it was like they fell off the face of the earth, and I didn't hear from them hardly at all. Tonight, after nearly 10 years, I heard something that broke my heart. Two of the clients that I worked with and loved very much have gone to be with Jesus. I know they are in heaven with all my heart as the home was specifically as a Christian Ministry, and Jesus was a huge part of our every day life. Both of these dear ones might not have been the smartest, most capable people, but man alive, they taught me a lot about unconditional love. I'm so happy for them both as they are FINALLY whole and completely understood by all those around them. But my heart breaks as the world has lost two gems of Jesus, who taught me how to love. Thankfully, they're both going to be part of my cheering squad when its my turn to run through the finish line. And I'll slap them both a high five, just like we did down here. And I'll continue to learn more about God's love because of them. Even in heaven. But for now, I weep.
