Munich Christmas Market

I just got back from a trip to Munich, Germany, and had a delightful time walking around this little Christmas market, a mere 3 minute walk from our hotel. It is not the biggest market in town, but it suited my needs just fine. . .taking pictures!!
Spice booth

This little hut won best decorated in my book. . .

. . .and it's owners wished us all a Merry Christmas!
Doll house booth. Notice the size of my hand next to these toys. TINY!

This is a beautiful night view of New York City as we flew over it last night.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!

Throughout the day, I hope to update this blog with specific things I'm thankful for, but for now, we'll start with a HUGE PRAISE ITEM!!! Some of you might not know this, but on August 1st, my sweet roommate, Emily, had a grand mal seizure, which, in Virgina, stopped her from driving for 6 months. Since she teaches first grade, this meant that every morning, she needed a taxi to work, about a 15 mile drive from our house. I was often that taxi, at least part of the way.
Anyway, she immediately started working on the paperwork so that the DMV would know. About a week ago, however, she received a letter from the DMV thanking her for the medical information and to report back again in 2 years. Nothing was said about not driving. So, she called them yesterday to confirm. Long story short, they gave her a thumbs up to start driving again!! So, we had to celebrate!!!I'm also so very thankful for my two cute nieces. And their parents. And their grandparents. I'll just leave it at that, 'cause there's pictures all over this blog of them!

Then there's my small group at church that I'm thankful for. This is not all of them, but I love these ladies so much.
On the actual day of Thanksgiving, I spent it with two new friends, Julia and Jo Linda. Julia comes to my house for small group on Wednesday night, and Jo Linda is a friend from church. So, I am thankful for new friends. . .
. . .to share a delightful meal with, even if the turkey WAS 18 lbs of meat for just the 3 of us!!!

Pictures of the Kids

I'm not talking about my nieces. . .I'm talking about my parents, and the Fosters, whom my parents are spending Thanksgiving with! I just talked to them on skype and took these pictures. . .the essence of our conversation. :o )
They're going out to a farm tonight to celebrate Thanksgiving. . .Coach Foster style. WARNING: This method involves the use of firecrackers and may cause damage to the holder, or the bystanders of said firecrackers. PLEASE USE CAUTION!!!
As you can see, Coach is locked and loaded for tonight!
The gathering of friends. Aren't they CUTE?!!!

A New Part-Time Job

So, in case you didn't know, I haven't been flying much this month. . .at all. In fact, in the last 23 days, I've only flown 2. Needless to say, it's been a long month. BUT, I decided to do something about it. On Monday morning, I walked into our local Christian bookstore to pick up a book, and asked them if they needed any help during the holidays. By that afternoon, I was shadowing someone, training! I worked a 12 hour shift yesterday, and they hope to use me on this coming Friday, too, IF I don't fly. From the sounds of it, they want me to work as much as possible, so that's wonderful. This is not my store, but you get the idea. :o )

Turkey Outreach!!

It's that time of year again! I got to participate in this year's event of making 7,500 turkey dinner boxes for 75,000 needy people in the D.C. area (each box is enough to feed 10 people). This time, I got pictures!!!
This is the finished project!
And the most important part. . .the gospel goes in EVERY BOX!!!
My roommate, Emily, and I both had a great time!
If you look very closely, there are a TON of finished boxes here, ready to be loaded on to the trucks.

Visiting Kyla Lydia

After threatening to visit for multiple years while Kyla was in college, I finally made it her direction. . .this time to Wesleyan College in Macon, GA. What a delightful campus! This is the view from Kyla's dorm.
And toward the pond. Look at all these great places to sit!
We went for a little walk and found. . .
. . .these little guys, successfully distracting Kyla from picture-taking mode. . .
. . .but then I got another shot. :o )
I was delighted to learn they had an Equestrian program there. This is one of the barns.
And this is the "fitness building"--for humans, that is!
I even got to see some students in action!
The campus from the far side of the pond.
And the fitness center across the pond.
One of MANY beautiful trees in the full color of Fallness!
After a quick tour of campus, we went to this Museum in downtown, Macon. The artwork in the front room alone, was worth the visit, but there was so much more than that! Definitely an interesting place to visit!
The museum's motto: "Come in curious, go home colorblind."
A self-portrait. . .one of many tries.
Revenge: you fool with my camera when I'm not looking, I post your picture. GOT YA!!!
Later Kyla's roommate, Hanna, was kind enough to take a couple pictures for us.
I had to leave right at sunrise this morning. It was beautiful. . .although a little tough on the eyes there for a while, as you can tell.
Thanks for the visit, sweet Kyla!!!

My Favorite Decoration

Many of you have either been here in person, or seen pictures on this blog of my house. WELL, I added a new decoration, which I believe is my favorite! Thanks to Kohls and a GREAT sale price, I bought this rather large frame for 60% off. Then I filled it with 21 of my favorite pictures of my favorite subjects.
Can you tell now why I love it so much?!!
