VIP Visitors to Texas

This past week was a very special week for me. For the first time I got to have my sister come to Texas instead of me flying to Seattle! AND, she brought one of my cute nieces!! Doubly special!!*
We decided to make the most of the visit and headed to the Space Center here in Houston.
*
G laughing at "lift-off". . .it tickled her ears!
On the tram tour
The room where many missions have been controlled from.  Very fun to randomly see Apollo 13 on German TV on my layover this week, too, because this room was grand central station for that movie!
Astronaut mock ups.
The building that housed the casings for one of the rockets they sent up to space.  It was HUGE!
Did I mention. . .HUGE?
The moon room, where we got to actually touch the moon. . .well, a rock from there at least!
A poster of the aircraft in flight that are currently just sitting by the front entrance.
G posing as an astronaut!
After the space visit, we hung out in my neighborhood the next day.  G looks good in TX!*
. . .and she inherited Oma's genes when it comes to Yahtzee.  This was her first roll in her first game every played.  Needless to say, she won!*
I had to go to work after that, but the gate back to Seattle was right next to my work offices.  So, G got a grand tour, and helped me check in for my trip before she headed out on her own flight back home.  It was a super visit!  *

Chasing Snow!

I had an extended layover in Munich this weekend and got to fly with some flight attendant friends. We decided to take an adventure to the village of Garmisch and visit one of  the 1936 Olympic stadiums there, as well as the Partnach Gorge. What a great time was had by all! Oh, and we found some snow, too!

If you look closely by the tree branch, you can see a path right beside the rushing water of the gorge.  Stay tuned for pictures taken while walking on that path!

I still wear my Vancouver 2010 Olympic mittens whenever I need warmth on a layover!

We ate dinner in a tiny cafe located in the building right under the church steeple.  Hand-made Pumpkin Sweet Potato Soup . . . perfect after a chilly day of hiking in cloudy/rainy/snowy weather.

Because it was so cloudy all day, we missed a lot of the scenery and mountains around the town.  I'm going to have to return on a sunny day and remedy that!
