Emily's "Bon Voyage" Party, The People

So, after some conniving on my part, I managed to borrow a couple pictures from Emily's camera from the party! She and some of her teaching co-workers.
Our next door neighbors, Steve and Heather.
Erica and Kaity. . .special girls from church with BEAUTIFUL smiles!
Kaity, Becca and Emily. Kaity and Becca are my small group leaders. They teach with Emily.
Erica, Laurel, Emily and Kathi. Laurel and Kathi were Em's small group leaders.

Emily's "Bon Voyage" Party

On Saturday night, Emily had a party with her friends and had them come over to wish her well on her new adventure in teaching in Brazil. The theme, of course, was the colors of the Brazilian flag! With a little rain forest mixed in. . .
I got some WONDERFUL recipes from my good friend, Eileen (who used to live in Brazil), to use for the party. They turned out GREAT!
So, you may ask, why are there no people in my pictures? Simple. United called me to work 5 hours before the party began, and I had to leave! Apparently, much fun was had by all. :o )

Another BFA Encounter

Can anyone guess who this is???
I'll give you a hint. . .he graduated in 2002. . . . .

Successful Surprise(s)!

Tonight we surprised my roommate, Emily, with dinner, and right now, a slumber party. Her small group of ladies has met in our house for the past 2 years, so I was an honorary attendee. I kept the secret right up until she was picked up (and was in my grungie clothes), then rushed upstairs to get dressed and be at the restaurant 25 minutes later! The best part. . .she really didn't have a clue! (Suzanna, Beth, and Emily)Tina and Shirley. . .Shirley has become a great friend as she was one of the first people I met at my church and I've been chatting with her ever since.
Laurel and Kathie, the two leaders of the small group, and now dear friends of mine. (This is one of those blurry pictures that made the cut because of their cute smiles!!)
Myself and Julie (and baby).
Julie arranged for dessert to surprise Kathie. . .
. . .and Shirley for their birthdays (both this coming week).

Touring Omaha

What an incredible find! This set of sculptures was literally stumbled upon on our way back to our hotel in Omaha. Each statue depicts a larger-than-life example of what it was like to travel in a wagon train across the prairies to get to the west. The best thing to do is enlarge each picture by double-clicking on it, because the small size does nothing for how detailed each sculpture is. Breath-taking.
I think this one is my favorite. . .a sculpted rut that the wagon wheel is stuck in!
Who knew you could find such treasures in the middle of the prairies????!!!!
