Celebrating 50 Years of Marriage

It was my man's parents' 50th wedding anniversary on Thursday, and I wasn't going to be around to celebrate with them, so we had to think of something else to do.  We came up with a treasure hunt for them to receive a clue (via text) every 1/2 hour starting at 9:30 a.m.  Then we prepared the treasure, contributed by friends and family of the couple
It is very hard to find stuff representing 50 years of marriage--a rare occurrence these days-- so we made do with some of our own modifications

My parents even got in on the action, bringing a "golden" chocolate bar from Germany
Because the celebration couldn't happen on the actual day, we ended up giving them a coupon for a family dinner at a later date.
And this guy went on their property after dark the night before and hid all the treasures!!
I got to skype with them on their anniversary and even took part in helping find the last gift.  His mom said it was so much fun and a memory she would treasure for years.  His dad had a good time laughing along as they found the treasures
Then a few more cards came later that week, so I got to be there in person for those treasures found

They were both delighted!
And a photo shoot later to fill a frame that was a gift for their anniversary
How to survive 50 years. . .listening. . .laughter. . .and love of God.

Another Farm Baby. . .and SOME Harvest

We went to the farm again on Tuesday to meet this newest addition-- Precious Penny.
She was born on Pentecost.

 SUCH a cutie!
We also went to help with harvesting some carrots. . .but came back with WAY more than just that!

Parents' Visit

I had a quick visit from Mom and Dad for a couple days and had a few good laughs in honor of the royal wedding that happened elsewhere that weekend. . .

Then a few old farmers got together to talk farmin'
. . .and enjoy some yummy home-grown & cooked food
Dad especially enjoyed the CATFISH!!  He couldn't decide which he liked better--fried or smoked
This bluebird & his/her mate had babies in a birdhouse on the farm
God gave us a spectacular sunset that night

Mother's Day on the Farm

I'm finding a lot of delight in taking pictures with my new camera, and if I can't find human models, I'll take animals, too!

These roses were a little bit past their prime, but still really lacy and beautiful, and the bush was LOADED with them!

I didn't correct the red-eye, because apparently, this is his true nature!!  HA!
These chicks were babies this spring. . .as seen a couple months before when I was holding them. . .now look at them!

This little girl was the calf born the night before the last visit in March.  She's still super photogenic!
And this little fellow was born a week ago.

All the animals are rotten on this farm. . .spoiled rotten!
Mandatory family fun in honor of mother's day.
Caught on candid camera in my back yard this afternoon.
