A Sad Visit to Colorado

Funerals are awful--for the people left behind.  That was the reason for this visit to Colorado.  My Uncle Steve passed away, and we went up for the weekend to support his wife, Etta (dad's sister), and kids:  Simon, Rachel and Skip.
Etta asked for me to do the coffin flower arrangement.  I asked mom for help.  She rocked it!

Memory tables

After the ceremony, we headed to Two Buttes and the incredibly high lake there, which I had never seen before.  It was beautiful

I let Len stand under the taller peak of Two Butte mountain so he could feel taller.

A Special Visitor in Munich

For the first time since we got married, Len joined me on a layover in Munich!
He tried quite a few local favorites.  This was NOT one of them.
We visited quite a few cathedrals

. . .and, of course, Marienplatz!
We also found a great lego statue in one of the stores
One of my favorite things about Germany--window boxes with flowers in them!
The Frauenkirche
And the nice sized organ.  There was a concert going to be there this weekend. . .but we left
There was quite a large grandfather clock in there, too
A map of the city, bronzed and in front of the church
We ended our day in a local Biergarten eating some yummy traditional food
Prost!
Apfelstruedel with Vanilla sauce

My hubby is experiencing jetlag for the first time in a while. . .I told him welcome to my life!
This morning we enjoyed a birthday breakfast at the hotel, complete with specialty coffee and hot chocolate
Then a miracle happened and he got on with me on standby on an oversold airplane!

Two New Layovers?!!

In the almost 17 years I've been flying, I have never gotten a chance to STAY in San Pedro Sula, Honduras ...
... or San Juan, Puerto Rico.   Since I got a bit more time in SJU, I went out to explore a bit.  Although, the view from my hotel balcony was pretty spectacular!
I met some natives. . . .
. . .and simply enjoyed being on the Atlantic Ocean.

End of June Drama

The end of June was full of. . .chaos, to put it mildly.  A wedding I had hoped to go to was not an option for me due to full airplanes, thunderstorms, and just . . . chaos.  I also got stuck in the chaos when my airline canceled hundreds of flights, left us stranded and on hold for hours waiting to talk to our scheduling desk.  Just a brief glimpse of the crew resting area.  Oh, and someone stole my credit card.
In the midst of it all, I ended up having an unexpected long layover in NYC, where I was able to see my cousins!  Always thankful when spontaneity works!
Appropriate word to keep in mind in the midst of chaos. . .that normal would return.

The street view from my hotel.  I'm so very thankful I can choose to come or go in this city!
It does look pretty cool. . .from a distance.
