I had a chance to visit with my friend, Sarah Heath, from elementary school. The last time we saw each other was in 1995, so it was quite a lot of catching up to do!
We had a great time together visiting various parks/mountains around Denver. Our first day was spent at Red Rock Park. Great paths, and beautiful flowers!
So many pictures. Not one of them truly capture the awe of these things!
Like my hat?!! I bought it while I was in CO at a western store!
Wow.
This is an amphitheatre that they created using two sides of the rocks. It was amazing. I would LOVE to go to a concert there of one of my favorite musicians. Incredible acoustics, I'm sure!
One of the sides of the amphitheatre.
We are pleased to be here!
I love the frame of this picture.
The next day, we headed to another park right outside of Boulder, which I can't spell, so I'll just let you figure it out!
We met Katie Dindiger there, and her two kids. GREAT to see her again!
The girls on a bridge partway up one of the mountains nearby. (Flathead mountain, or something like that).
The view was incredible. And that patch of green in the middle is where we had come from.
Katie's kids, Blue and Raven. Nice backdrop!
One of my favorite shots from the weekend. This tree was growing out of a rock.
I would have gotten a t-shirt that said, "I survived!", but they didn't have any! We were all pretty pooped by the end of this trail!
Katie and Sarah, thinking of future Chimichangas that we were going to eat for supper!
And a couple dorm sisters hanging out! Katie lived with us in Germany in 1987-88.
We then headed to Katie's house, and found this flower on the way home from the restaurant. It had just poured rain, and stopped right as we were ready to go home. That was kind of the story of the whole time I was there.
One last shot of the ladies before Sarah and I headed back to the city. GREAT smiles!
The next day, Sarah and I headed to the top of Mt. Evans. Wow. That's about all that's necessary to say.
Sarah maneuvered this road like a pro, and I was biting my nails on the passenger side!
Breath-taking.
Another great shot of the road, and the view.
We stopped to eat lunch at the wildlife area. This little bird was flustered because we were sitting under her nest in the rafters of the building.
Incredible trees. This is one of HUNDREDS that could have been on a picture.
The forest of trees. And Sarah!
The view of the valley and mountains beyond.
And a little stream that ran through it all.
Long story short, it was a great trip.
The only thing that was discouraging was that I found out while I was there that the new baby Sharla was carrying, due in December, has no heartbeat. Please pray for our family as we grieve the loss of this little one. One thing this does. . .it makes me that much more anxious for heaven, where I can meet this little niece/nephew that has gone on before. And God, Himself, picks out their name. That's pretty cool.
