Memorial Day Friday in D.C.

After a sweltering hot day on Thursday, we had a fantastic day on Friday to visit D.C. proper. The temperature was great, and, although there was complete cloud cover, it didn't rain one drop while we were out there.
A powerful wall full of bronze stars, each one representing someone who died in WWII: "Here we have the price of freedom."
I, personally, had never read this speech by Abraham Lincoln at his election starting his second term in office. I love what it says about the 2 sides reading the same Bible. Much to think about.
Gotta' love baby ducks, to remind us of the REAL beauty--God's creation.
I loved all the colors in this picture.

Like I said already, I'm very thankful for such a beautiful day!

We're Celebrating!!!!

'Cause we have a new family member. . .Madeleine Grace was born on May 27th at 10:30 a.m. in Seattle, and we're excited to meet her! Chiara seems to think she's pretty swell, too!

Before. . .and After!

So, I forgot to take one last pic of me with long hair, so this is the long hair. . .

. . .and this is the haircut!
Time to make a donation to "Locks of Love" again, and this time is number 4!

A Beautiful Day in Zurich, Switzerland

These pictures pretty much speak for themselves. The bonus: dad was with me, and he's HOPEFULLY flying back with me on the airplane tomorrow. So far so good!

A Couple Visitors

This one was expected. . .mom came to stay with me for one night before going to visit a friend in Illinois. . .basically to be on this side of the ocean before summer break starts, and waiting for baby to arrive! This little guy was in my back yard!
I actually saw him again this morning, and it reminded me that I haven't put pictures of him on the blog yet. I think I'll call him "Nutmeg"!
Then a dear friend's mom came through Washington on her way out of the country, and hung out at my house while she waited for her next flight 6 hours later. :o )

Waiting. . .and a New Camera?

Not much to say right now as I'm waiting. . .to become an auntie again! So, in the meantime, I'm trying out a new camera as my old one was having issues. I'm not sure I like it yet. . .but here's a couple shots I've taken.
