Weather Report

Before I left Germany, people were asking me how far along the trees were in their Fall process. I told them I didn't know because I hadn't been around for a few weeks. Personally, I think the trees aren't that far along yet. There are some beautiful colors, however, right around the 3 or so blocks from my house. Have a look!

Last Minute Visits

I was so very pleased to see my good friend, Gail, on my last day in Germany. She was a sponsor for senior trip, and got home right before I left. Thankfully, we got together for a little visit. It was great.
She was very kind and allowed me to stop and take pictures quite frequently during our walk through town to the bakery.
This was actually taken on the train the morning I left. Beautiful sunrise.

A Trip to My Childhood. . .Sort Of. . . .

On Tuesday, I had the wonderful priviledge of going up to Marzell, where I spent 7 years of my childhood/teenage years living in Sonnenhof. It was wonderful to go sit in my favorite spot and take a panoramic picture from there (be sure to click on it to get the full effect):
Then I went for a walk in the forest. . .where two roads diverged. . . .
Yet another breath-taking view. The picture doesn't show it well, but you could see the various ranges of hills in the distance.
The apple trees are just LOADED with apples. They look fake, they look so good!
The best part of the day, however, was the fellowship. Thanks for a great walk, Susie. She was my boss in the front office for 2 years when I was here on staff.
I then spent time with my former schoolmate, Carmen, while her girls were at AWANA. So good to catch up with her again!

Last Days in Deutschland

The Wilcox clan just left for the airport this morning to head back to Seattle. Thankfully, there are still some wonderful pictures/movies that we have as reminders of the delightful time we all spent together. Ok, so they're mostly all of Chiara, but STILL!
Can you find the REAL flower in the midst of the rest of the garden?!!
It kept raining flower petals for some reason. . .almost 6 inches in a matter of minutes!
Chiara learned a new appreciation for flowers under Oma's tutilage. Here, she is "smelling" them. If you listen close, you can hear. . . .
Oma and Chiara had many deep and meaningful conversations while Chiara was here. At least, they thought so. Some of the rest of us couldn't quite figure out what they were saying.

From Saskatchewan to Germany in One Day

And such fun to be with little Chiara again. They're only here for a few more days, but thankfully we overlap just a bit on our vacations. Much fun is being had by all!
Gotta' love a street with so little traffic that one can buzz around without having to be holding hands all the time. That's Burgunderstrasse for you!
Sitting in the sunshine with Mommy.
Chiara especially likes playing in the back yard at Opa and Oma's house.
