Meeting Marina Mae

I didn't want to post any pictures on here of my new niece, Marina Mae, until I actually got to meet her. Well, because of a God-thing, today I did!

Ask me if I'm a happy Auntie, surrounded by my 3 favorite girls!

Feeling Nostalgic

A year ago at this time, I was in Kauai, Hawaii, with my family. I'm feeling so blessed to have gotten a chance to celebrate there, but also a little nostalgic. . .we had a super time together, and I'm missing my family today. I wish I didn't live so far away. ANYWAY, one of the surprises for Mom and Dad's anniversary was a photo shoot by a professional photographer, Jonathan Moeller. Here's some of my favorite shots he took.

Looking forward to many more family gatherings in the future, even if they're not in such a beautiful place.

On the Chopping Block . . . Again.

So, I found out once again that I am on the potential chopping block for United if they don't have enough volunteers to take a year off.  This has happened every year that I have worked for them, so it's nothing new.  But every year I wonder what the future will be like, and if I'm not careful, worry could overtake my sanity.
As I was thinking about this again this morning, a song came to mind from almost a decade ago.  The song was inspired by the stories of Jim Elliot and 3 others, missionaries that were killed by some native indians down in Ecuador, South America during the 1970's.  If you don't know who they are, you can google them and read the story.  The incredible thing is that through their deaths, their wives and children were able to reach out to the very tribe that killed them, and many became believers.
Steven Curtis Chapman had a chance to go down and visit this tribe, which inspired this song.  And it may be my current theme song until I find out the results of the furlough from United.  Here is the video link.
