South Texas--Day One

For months we have wanted to go visit my "Mom and Dad O" down in South Texas, who are serving on a re-building team with Mennonite Disaster Services.  Valentine's weekend, we made it!  Taking the ferry across to Port Aransas

The first time in my life that I saw a dolphin in the wild was RIGHT here!  But it only surfaced once that I saw, and, of course, my camera missed it!
The Gulf of Mexico

This was a fundraiser/tourist attraction for the beach.  People knitted or crocheted "socks" to put on the beach posts.  It was super fun to see their creativeness

South Texas--Day Two

We woke up to a very chilly morning in Aransas Pass but had to go find some water anyway.

It was here that I saw multiple dolphins in the wild!

Because the weather was supposed to be cold and rainy, we decided to splurge on a place to see God's creation anyway--the Texas Aquarium.  I took SOOOO many pictures, but these were my favorites.  God is a GENIUS!

I purposefully kept my finger in this picture so you could see how tiny this Dwarf Seahorse was

These were called "Feather-dusters".  One is open, showing it's feathers, and one closed, eating food

These birds teased me the whole time we were in here, while I was trying to take a picture of them...until the very end when this one landed right in front of me, about 3 feet away!

This aircraft carrier museum was right across the water, but we didn't have time to do both.  Next time!
The sculptures all over the aquarium were so beautiful.  This one was funny.  It's a water fountain with a whale tale and back, and every so often, there's a little spray out of it's "blowhole"!
That evening Len and I went to watch the sunset. . .and almost got blown away!!  The wind was blowing so much that there was a wind advisery, so we lasted about a minute outside the truck, then turned it around so we could sit in it, and still get the sunset.
It was worth the wait!

South Texas--Day Three

We went to church with the Mennonite Disaster Group in Rockport, then enjoyed lunch at a restaurant that if you catch fresh fish and clean them, the restaurant will cook them for you!
After lunch drove out to see Rockport Beach, which is on the mainland opening up to Aransas Bay

Notice the 3rd face hiding in this picture!

Len and I had a beautiful walk along the beach there

These trees amazed me.  They were so windblown by the storms of life that they all pointed AWAY from the wind. . .they grew that way!
They could not hide the fact that they had been beaten by the wind, but they were still standing.
