Virginia "Gone Away" Party

These got a little mixed up in the order of things, but I wanted to share about my "gone away" (since I couldn't have a going away party as I'd lived in Texas for a month and a half by then!!) party, hosted by my amazing former roommate, Emily.
Dear friends of mine who were a part of my small group Bible study for years in VA.
A picture of most of the girls that showed up
Emily went ALL OUT when it came to decorating, and made me feel like I needed to get more texan!
She made me red velvet cupcakes, too.  One of my favorites!
She and her dad, one of the only gents there for a while!
Her sister, Sarah, also a good friend.
This family often invited me to share holiday meals with them when I lived in VA so I wouldn't have to be alone for the holiday.
I call this "adopted family"
My dear friend, Annie, who was in my small group from day one.
Another shot of the small group ladies
Emily, Erica and I.  Erica is a good friend from church.
Emily even cut out a map of  TX to hang on the wall!
My two beloved roommates, Emily and Caroline.  I love them both!

The ice-cream cake I got for the party.  Thanks Em!
Finally, at the tail end, my dear friends Francis and Joanna came.  They go back to the church I went to when I lived in San Francisco.

Rusk Visit Begins Vacation

My first couple days on vacation were spent up in Rusk, TX, with this dear lady and her vertically and horizontally challenged grand-dog, Max.  As you can see, he takes up 1/2 of the chair, and is quite content!

A Visit Christmas Eve Day

Actually, this was taken Christmas Eve day, when I got to see my cousin, Jennifer, here in Houston. So fun to be with family for the morning, even if it was short!
My amazing parents, without whom I couldn't have done this move to Texas.

We all hung out, my parents & I went to a Christmas Eve service and met some new friends of friends, then the 3 of us went back to my house and enjoyed a quiet evening snacking.  The next morning I was back at work, and they were back on an airplane to see the grandbabies.
