Christmas was a little less lonely this year, even though I had to work, because I was able to finally attend a church in Munich that one of my former schoolmates works at with her family. It was great to see her!
I also met some new friends who also work at the church, They invited me to join them for Christmas lunch the next day at an out of the way local restaurant with authentic Bayerisches food (state of Germany). It was quaint!
I loved the frosted garland on the ceiling.
My new friends!
And my dinner!
For my New Year's trip, I also had to work, but had the joy of bringing my parents along for the ride! They have never spent any time in Munich so it was fun to show them around the city a little bit.
We went into a church I had seen, but never entered on Odeonsplatz. It was one of the most uniquely designed churches that I've seen in Europe that I can remember. The sculpting was incredible.
They had Christmas trees in the front decorated with these HUGE straw ornaments. . .notice my finger for frame of reference.
They also had a nativity scene, which I love the detail of.
I didn't get to see this house at night, but the candles in the window were fun!
Good trip, but I think we wore mom out!! The two of them caught a train from Munich on New Year's afternoon and are now back in Kandern area after 3 months of traveling. Mom says it's good to be home in her own bed!!!
When we flew out on Monday morning, the sun hadn't risen yet, and God had created some beautiful frost on the trees at the airport. My Texas flight attendants thought it was snow. I had to explain the heavy frost look to them. ;)
I wish you and yours a Happy New Year and God's richest blessings as you begin 2017!!!
