My Brother in Heaven

Today I found out that a dear brother in Christ, Doug, lost his year long battle with cancer, and headed Home. I'm thrilled for him that he finally has no more pain (having been in pain for literally MONTHS now), but my heart breaks for his wife, Melissa, and his extended family. Please join me in saying a quick prayer of comfort for everyone left behind.

Back in Seattle Again

After a rough weekend, it was such a blessing to finally make it back to Seattle again. I haven't been here since January.  My dear Carly picked me up from the airport for a quick visit.
We then enjoyed this beautiful day by going to the park.
CC wanted to take a few pictures. . .not bad for a 5, almost 6 year old!!

My stylish missys, always stars in my book!
And I can't forget about my newest cutie-pie!!
I was so pleased. . .I saw her for the first time in 3 months, and she took about 2 seconds to smile at me
. . .she's been grinnin' ever since!

Training In Houston

Training in Houston was a little difficult, but the best part was being reunited with 11 of my classmates who trained with me back in 2007.
My favorite time was spent with my former roommates, Wendy and Debee.

Here we all are, trying to make the best of a bad situation.

Date Day with Mason

Before I went to training for my "new" job, I got to play with this little tyke. After seeing a grin like this, who wouldn't smile, too?!!

His mom and I have been in a small group together since I moved to VA.  They live just down the road from me, and we often get together for lunch/play date.  Mason is turning 1 year old this month!

Final Days with s-United

Many of you saw the post on Facebook as I said that I was starting my last trip with subsidiary (s)United last Thursday. I wanted to take a minute and explain what is happening now.
I am still technically a United flight attendant, but I have decided to join the s-Continental group of flight attendants in order to keep my flying career.  I was among 685 flight attendants who got notice on January 14th that we would have to be involuntarily furloughed due to an overage of flight attendants on the s-United side of flying.  During the course of the weeks that followed, the company came back with a solution for those of us who wanted to, we could "Cross over" to the s-Continental side of flying.  Both companies now have the name United due to our merger that happened approx. 3 years ago.  But we do not fly under the same work rules.  Our pay is different, our rest period is different, our medical coverage is different, etc.  And s-Continental needed more flight attendants, and has been, in fact, hiring for the past couple years.
So, with that in mind, I had two choices.  One would be to leave my job completely, thereby losing all medical coverage and flight privileges within a 3-6 month period, with no guarantees of when I would be coming back to the company.  The other was to start afresh at the bottom of seniority at Continental (with the understanding that I would eventually get my current seniority back when we agreed on a joint contract), and work under their contract.
After much prayer and many questions submitted, I decided to join s-Continental.  My training begins April 5th, and I begin working for them April 20th.
God has been very evident in this process.  My last month of flying for s-United, I got a line that allowed me to see my family in Edmonton TWICE, which has never happened in all the years I've been flying so far.  I also got to visit new places, and fly with some great people.  God also had my pastor give an INCREDIBLY appropriate sermon on Sunday, which confirmed once again that He was in control of things, and United was just an "itsy, bitsy little pawn" in His chess game, getting me to the appropriate place on His chess board.  (For a listen to it, I'd highly recommend going this link:
My job may be changing, but my God is steady, and He is always in control.
To finish, here is a picture of part of my family and I at our outing in Edmonton while I was there.
