Gaylord Hotel Nashville

You know, if you stay at a hotel name brand often enough, you earn free points, which earns you free nights in another hotel in their chain.  This is how we ended up staying at the Gaylord Hotel in Nashville.  Each of these pictures were taken INSIDE the hotel in the 9 acres of gardens.

Our room was on the second floor of this picture, one room away from the corner.

Did I tell you my hubby loves BBQ sauce?  Well, he does.  And that's why we came to this restaurant for supper.  The sauce WAS fantastic.  Putting it on a piece of bread after 5 helpings on your potato?  Well, he thought it was that good!

When I booked the hotel, the room was supposed to be facing the parking lot.  When we got there, THIS was the view from our balcony!

General Jackson

Our evening was spent on the Cumberland River on a showboat called the General Jackson.  BEST IDEA EVER!!  What a fabulous time!

Cruising to city center right at sunset.
The closest we came to Broadway.

Before the show, we shared a drink
Then went into this theater on the boat to watch "Rollin' on the River"

Highly recommend this option if you ever make it to Nashville!

Arlington Cemetery & DC Monuments

I had never been to Arlington Cemetery, so the next day Emily dropped us off there.
The tomb of the unknown soldier guarded by the Marines.

The Seabee monument was a favorite for my favorite Seabee

We then metro-ed into city center and saw all the famous sights

This one was hard. . .we met up with a bunch of former soldiers doing an honor flight, where they were looking up their buddy's' names.  Some were in tears.  It was rough to see, especially for Len.

Back to the metro, hot but happy
But I wore him out. . . .

Air & Space Museum

Before leaving for the city again, we stopped for breakfast.  We should have shared something. . .
My dear friend, Emily, picked us up from the airport and took us to the Air and Space museum nearby.

Always a must photo opportunity!

We had to take this one because it said Houston on it.

Doyles River Falls

The next day was another hiking day simply because of the name of the destination had our dear friend, Doyle's name in it
At first we weren't too impressed. . .
But after hiking a bit more found another one
and finally the biggest one!  Look closely, my hubby is in that picture showing the size of the waterfall.

Back to the middle sized-one

Fun times!
